Slackers...

There are a few Sims in town who have a Lifetime Wish that involves getting to the top of their career, but who are too lazy to actually put in the effort.

One of them is Blake Samson. He wants to be a Leader of the Free World, but if possible he wants to get there by taking it easy and sleeping in his cushy office at the town center.
Blake is at level 9, Vice President, and promotion is slow at that level. Especially since he only works three days a week, and spends most of his time watching television.

The worst slackers are the McGovern sisters. Janelle has managed to get herself up to level 5 in Journalism (at the age of 49). She did accomplished her Lifetime Wish of becoming a Professional Blogger, but hasn't done much since...

Stacia, the eldest, wants to be a Jack of All Trades. She's stuck at level 3 in her third career, and since she's almost sixty, it's not likely that she'll get her wish... She's not aging gracefully either:

Their sister Constance wants to get to the top of her career as a Scam Artist Fortune Teller, but she really spends most of her days doing group readings (in other words: chatting to the other psychics and generally not accomplishing anything). That is, if she bothers to show up at all.

It was actually the Samson/Sommers family's turn in the rotation, but I decided to get sidetracked a little and also look in on the others, to maybe give them a bit of a boost. Including Stacia's new roommate, Gwendolyn Adams, who is working on becoming an Art Appraiser (Forger).
Starting with Gwendolyn, I made her 'work hard' while I concentrated on Stacia - who really needs to write some reviews and articles if she wants to get ahead. (I've not quite given up on her yet...)

While I was making Stacia eat at one of the restaurants so she could review it, I did notice that Gwendolyn was uncomfortable, but I was too busy concentrating on her roommate. Big mistake!!!

It turned out that both Gwendolyn and Gina Bernard had caught fire from overheating.

Gina went up in smoke, but actually did survive. I found her later, singed and cranky, but alive:

Gwendolyn, however, was part of the active family. So I should have done something active to extinguish her - only I was too late.

Now Stacia's mood is so far down the drain that she probably won't get anywhere with her job in the next few days. Plus, I have to train a new rebel to become an Art Appraiser in the Acquisition branch, if I want to be able to cross that career of my 'Do It All' list.

And I'll miss Gwendolyn. She was my first Sim to become 'Street Credible', and most buildings in town were 'decorated' with her spray cans one time or another. Including her parents' farm - her favourite target, because there at least she wouldn't be interrupted by pesky policemen!

RIP Gwendolyn, you'll be missed!!

In the meantime one other person who has a career-related Lifetime Wish is Christopher Sommers. He wants to be a Scientific Specialist, which involves mastering the Science skill and reaching level 10 in a related profession. He is a doctor, and he's currently an Infectious Disease Specialist.
He's not as much of a slacker as the others, but it was actually his turn in the rotation. (It would have been better for poor Gwendolyn if I'd stuck to my regular rotation!! LOL!!)

Christopher is co-parenting, so when I play him, he'll have the kids. He's moved into the same house he lived in when he was a teenager. It's a very nice, big beach house that has two rooms on the ground floor and one bedroom at the top, and it has a great view of the ocean.

The kids enjoy living with their dad - he's not as strict a parent as Jeannine, and he does a lot of fun stuff with them. This time around, he took them to the new swimming pool. The Town Council told him it needed testing, and the kids were only too happy to help:

Christopher got very upset seeing Donovan Harrell, Jeanniene's new husband, in the pool bathroom. So he decided to have a drink and talk to the bartender about his sorrows. Fortunately, like all bartenders, he's a good listener, and he managed to cheer Christopher up in no time - or maybe that was just the drinks?

In any case, it's now been established that the pool bar also works properly. :)

Christopher's twin sister Melanie was there as well. She's not too bothered with her work as a stylist, she's firmly established as a Fashion Phenomenon and doesn't really need to put in the effort. (Unlike her husband Blake, who can't seem to get up that last little step of the career ladder!)
So she ignored various phone calls from people who needed their wardrobes fixed, and concentrated on her own tan.

And when you're not tanning fast enough, there's always the spray tanner!

At the end of this week, Christopher managed to get promoted to Neurosurgeon, but none of the others got very far.
