Perfect Student

Carlton Fox wants to be a perfect student. After thinking long and hard about the results of his aptitude test, he decided that he wants to major in Business.
What he's really hoping for is to get a job with his father, as a video games designer. He loves playing video games, so he figures creating them would be even more fun.

However, his plans for going to university were delayed when his girlfriend Lynsay Mendez came to visit him on her birthday. He didn't really want to leave just as she walked in, so he stayed and talked to her.
She told him she doesn't really want to spend her birthday with her bossy mother, so on impulse Carlton asked her to move in with his family. (Well, he spontaneously got that wish, and I let him!)

Carlton's parents only became aware of the new addition to their family when they were suddenly called down to celebrate Lynsay's birthday.

Throughout the day both Susannah and Bryan tried very hard to get to know their future daughter-in-law a bit better, and fortunately they became friends without too much stress on either side.
I guess they finally realised that Lynsay can't help it if both her parents were gold-diggers and suspected murderers!

After the weekend, Carlton and Lynsay went off to university together. They moved into the same house that Bryan and Susannah rented when they went there some 20-odd years ago, although they probably weren't aware of it. It just seemed a better alternative than living with a bunch of messy roomies.

I decided to use this game for a bit of testing. I really wonder whether it makes a lot of difference how hard your Sim studies.
So  Lynsay is going around uncontrolled, without anybody looking over her shoulder to see what she's doing, while Carlton is being watched.

Besides wanting that perfect GPA, Carlton also wants to be in with the Nerd crowd - if he manages to get a good foothold there, his father will probably offer him that job when he gets home.
So it's a bit of a balancing act, between studying hard and discussing comics with random strangers. And video games, of course!

In the meantime Lynsay picks up her book every so often, and makes a few random sketches. Her degree is in Fine Arts, but she really wants to be a cook, so all this drawing is a bit useless.

Throughout their two terms at Uni, they both seem to do equally well. I guess it helps that Lynsay is not a party animal, so she does pick up a book every so often without being prompted.

They both graduate with a perfect score, though. This means that Carlton now has his Lifetime Wish in the bag - and he can concentrate on becoming nerdier.

(And once again it proves that the game is too easy - if Lynsay can get a perfect GPA while I am actually not even playing her, it's not much of a challenge to get a degree!)

Getting his LTW gives Carlton some points to spend on buying some Nerd influence, which he does. So when they get back home, the first thing he sees is a job offer as a video games designer. Yeah!!

Lynsay joins the culinary career, which is exactly what she wished for before she left - only now she can skip the boring stages. Because she's so good at sketching, she's immediately hired as an Ingredient Taster (which is level 4).

* * *

At this point they don't have to go to work yet, though, so they decide to check out the renovated Day Spa. There's now a professional masseuse at work, and Carlton immediately offers himself up as a guinea pig.

Lynsay tries the hot tub, and the downstairs steam room.

Upstairs there's another sauna, and a room with two more mud baths. Susannah comes in after work, to get a spray tan. She decides that the towels they used in the steam room are very artistic, and spontaneously starts scanning them with her Art Appraiser scanner.

When Bryan and Alexandra arrive, Carlton and Lynsay decide that it's too crowded. While Alexandra checks out the spa employee's private lounge (a.k.a. the rabbithole rug), Carlton and Lynsay go behind the building, away from prying eyes.

And there Carlton asks the all-important question. (After first dropping the ring, like the clumsy Sim he is):

Of course she says yes.

So now they're engaged, and the wedding is being planned. In the meantime, though, Lynsay misses her cats at home, so the family decide to get her two kittens from the shelter.

Lynsay wants to be friends with 15 cats. With her two new kitties, there are now 14 cats in town. It's going to be quite a task to visit everyone and befriend them all. She may just have to add a few to her own household...
